Job Description

Position Overview: We’re seeking an experienced and business-minded lawyer to join our legal team. This individual will be instrumental in driving legal strategy across the organization while serving as a trusted partner to senior leadership and business unit leaders. The ideal candidate is a strong generalist with expertise in consumer finance law, excellent legal and analytical skills, and the confidence to lead cross-functional teams through complex legal and business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Strategy & Business Partnership:

Support the Chief Legal Officer in providing strategic legal guidance, offering practical legal solutions aligned with company goals.

HR & Employment Law Support:

Advise on employment matters, workplace investigations, policies, and compliance with labor laws. Partner with HR on strategic issues.

Vendor & Contract Management:

Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, develop templates, and establish negotiation standards.

Consumer Privacy:

Ensure compliance with privacy laws such as GLBA, GDPR, CCPA; provide guidance to teams on privacy issues.

Intellectual Property:

Manage and monitor the company's IP portfolio, including trademarks and service marks.

Cross-Functional Support:

Collaborate across departments to identify legal risks and support transactions.

Regulatory Experience:

Support regulatory compliance, interpret laws, and update policies accordingly.

Qualifications:

JD from an ABA-accredited law school.

Minimum 8 years of legal experience, including in-house experience preferred.

Experience in consumer financial services or similar regulated industry.

Strong contract negotiation and vendor management skills.

Excellent communication skills, ability to present to senior leadership.

Knowledge of HTML and IronClad is a plus.
