The academic advisor will provide academic advising to newly admitted students as well as current undergraduate students at Idaho State University, with a special focus on supporting ISU Navigate student success and retention initiatives for the Office of Academic Advising. Specifically, this person will support our College of Arts and Letters population. This employee will actively participate in all academic advisor activities and responsibilities. The academic advisor will communicate regularly with and provide personalized assistance to all assigned students as they make progress toward their educational goals, providing accurate and helpful information. This employee will also work closely with professors, fellow advisors, the immediate supervisor, and university administrators to support student success. Key Responsibilities

Schedule and meet regularly with assigned advisees. Assist advisees in course registration, and monitor academic progress. Effectively communicate institutional standards for graduation. Work closely with assigned academic departments and ensure accurate advisement and a thorough understanding of the various program and course requirements. Connect students to campus resources as necessary. Work within the current academic advising initiatives to promote a coordinated, proactive advising environment. Serve on university committees as requested. Communicate effectively with all advising entities and other key departments across campus. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. At least one (1) year of experience engaging with high school or college students in educational, advisory, support, outreach, or mentorship roles, including but not limited to college admissions, academic advising, student recruitment, counseling, or other educational focused programs or services. Knowledge of higher education retention issues and approaches. Knowledge of academic improvement strategies for students in academic difficulty. Demonstrated ability to work independently and creatively. Strong written, interpersonal, group and public speaking skills. Preferred Qualifications

2+ years experience in academic advising in a post-secondary education environment. Experience utilizing a student success platform such as EAB Navigate. Additional Information

Salary will be between $49,750 - $51,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
