JOB DESCRIPTION
Bus drivers support the students of Saline Area Schools by transporting them to and from school via scheduled routes and/or to/from special events, trips, etc. Drivers are responsible for ensuring the bus is in safe operating condition and ensuring the safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from the bus.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education/Certification
Work in standard office and school building environments requiring mobility, visual and auditory acuity, communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, adaptability, technology proficiency, physical stamina and environmental awareness.
Additionally, a school bus driver must be able to physically evacuate students on a school bus, using the rear door, side emergency window, or roof hatch in the event of an emergency.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education/Certification
- Able to meet all requirements as set forth by the Michigan Department of Education and the Michigan Department of Transportation for school bus drivers.
- Preference will be granted to those applicants who possess a Class B CDL license, without air brake restrictions, and an MDE certification.
- Paid training at $17.50 per hour will be provided for acquisition of the Class B CDL
- Excellent driving record with five (5) years of experience.
- Experience working with children is preferred but not required.
- Follow precise schedules and routes.
- Adjust driving according to traffic and weather conditions.
- Follow the rules of the road to ensure the safety of children.
- Maintain orderliness among children riding the bus.
- Monitor and promptly report any mechanical issues.
- Communicate effectively and in a positive manner with students, parents, and staff.
- Check your email daily for important news and announcements.
- Approximate regularly-scheduled driving hours: 6:30 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. and 2:30 pm. - 4:45 p.m.; other bus trips are voluntary.
- Exemplary, regular, and predictable attendance is essential for this position.
- Physically present and alert at all times to successfully perform this job.
- Perform the tasks of the job physically, including but not limited to pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, basic vehicle cleaning, and assisting students when necessary.
- Effective and respectful verbal and written communication skills.
- Communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
- Engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

- 10-month employee
- 30-Hour weekly Guarantee for Route Drivers
- Insurance package as defined by the Saline Area Schools Educational Support Personnel (ESP)
- Paid Time Off as defined by the Saline Area Schools Educational Support Personnel (ESP)
- Eligible for up to $3,500 in signing bonuses
