Job Description
Job Description: Night Shift Registered Nurse - Birthing Center
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Night Shift Registered Nurse to join our team at a prominent Birthing Center. This position is scheduled for 36 hours per week from 7 PM to 7 AM, with an additional 24 hours of on-call duties within a four-week period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in labor, triage, and postpartum.
- Maintain high standards of patient care during all stages of the birthing process.
- Utilize EPIC for documentation and patient management.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including obstetricians, neonatologists, and anesthesia staff, to ensure favorable patient outcomes.
- Adhere to the nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 for active labor, 1:3 for triage, and 1:6 for postpartum/mom-baby care.
- Participate in a continuous quality improvement process and contribute to a healthy work environment.
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- BLS, ACLS, AWHONN fetal monitoring, and NRP certifications required.
- Previous experience in labor and delivery, high-risk labor, and antepartum care is necessary.
- EPIC experience and proficiency in IV placement are mandatory.
- C-section experience is not required, but a commitment to patient safety and quality care is essential.
- Ability to float as needed within the unit.
Schedule Details:
- Night shifts: 7 PM - 7 AM
- Weekend requirements: Three weekend shifts and two Fridays per four-week period.
- No call requirements, but on-call support is part of the job.
Working Environment:
- The unit consists of 13 labor & delivery beds, 8 triage beds, and 17 postpartum beds and averages 7.2 births daily.
- Supported by nurse aides/OB techs scheduled on every shift.
