The Category Advisor will report directly to the Director, Category Insights and work collaboratively as part of Walmart Category Advising team for our branded and private label products. Location: Bentonville, AR 100% onsite office role About The Position: As a Category Advisor supporting Walmart, you will serve as a strategic partner to Walmart's merchandising team, leveraging data-driven shopper insights and deep category expertise to increase market share, drive sales growth, profitability, and shopper satisfaction. You'll be the go-to expert for category performance, assortment & shelving optimization, and modular planning; supporting the merchant with unbiased strategic and tactical recommendations that will shape the retail landscape. This is a strategic and executional role that will help position GreatStar Tools as a premium partner with Walmart for long term successful relationship within Hand Tools, Garage, Tool Storage and Shelving bays. Key Responsibilities Employ critical thinking and proactively derive insights to identify issues & opportunities. Leverage Luminate and other available data sources to create impactful stories that identify risks, opportunities, and performance gaps such as assortment, distribution, size, incrementality, placement & shelving. Utilize ProSpace experience to create modulars for assigned categories and work with cross functional partners to ensure modulars are submitted within the time frame prescribed. Elevate data analysis beyond reporting and into storytelling, translating insights into action. Optimize the physical and digital shelf utilizing the latest omni-insights, conducting opportunity gap analyses and SKU rationalization exercises. Develop strong working relationships with the merchants and cross-functional partners in order to align category strategies with broader business perspectives. Proactively analyze data and create actionable insights for the category, consumer, and shopper. Analyze syndicated and proprietary data to uncover trends and performance drivers. Be a leading expert on shopper trends, assortment opportunities, competitive activity, and promotional trends to contribute to the customer planning process. Develop and deliver convincing presentations to the merchant as required. Additional projects and responsibilities as required by the business. Experience And Qualifications Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent education and related experience) 2+ years of experience in category management, e-commerce or a related field within CPG, prior experience working with Walmart merchants strongly preferred Experience with category management principles, syndicated data, shopper/consumer insights, and proficiency in space management principles and software (e.g., Blue Yonder, ProSpace, JDA) Proven ability to analyze and report data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions, driving improvement and finding effective solutions. A data driven storyteller. Strong command of retail math, P&L drivers and financial modeling A strong understanding of analytics, including descriptive (the what), diagnostic (the why), predictive (what will happen), and prescriptive (the response) A strategic mindset with a bias for action Demonstrated expertise using ProSpace and Luminate Proficiency with the Microsoft suite with strong capabilities using Excel and PowerPoint Physical demands primarily involve sitting and using a computer for extended periods Occasionally involves walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping May require lifting, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 20 lbs
