Position SummaryThe Lead Host/Hostess sets the tone for a warm, welcoming, and well-organized guest experience. As a daytime bistro, Café Sebastian thrives on energy, efficiency, and friendly professionalism—from morning espresso service to lunch on the patio.
This role requires a confident and organized individual who can manage seating, guest flow, and team communication in a fast-paced setting. The ideal candidate is personable, proactive, and capable of creating a polished but relaxed front-of-house atmosphere.
Core ResponsibilitiesGreet all guests with warmth and professionalism upon arrival
Manage and update daily reservations through OpenTable (or similar), including walk-ins and waitlists
Oversee the host stand and coordinate seating flow, pacing, and section rotation
Communicate with the floor team to manage table readiness and wait times
Maintain a clean and organized entrance and guest-facing space
Answer guest calls, respond to inquiries, and support to-go order coordination when needed
Track and communicate guest notes such as allergies, repeat visitors, or special occasions
Support service during peak periods as needed (e.g., bussing, resetting, light running)
Uphold a positive, team-first attitude and lead by example in guest interactions
Assist in onboarding and supporting junior host team members
1–2 years of experience in a host or guest service role preferred
Proficiency with OpenTable or similar reservation software
Strong communication skills, organized mindset, and calm demeanor under pressure
Positive, proactive attitude and natural hospitality instincts
Morning and daytime availability required, including weekends
A desire to grow with a forward-thinking hospitality group in a high-visibility urban location
