Description
Valdese Weavers is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company and has been in business for over 100 years. As one of the largest woven textile mills in the world, Valdese Weavers designs and manufactures residential and contract grade fabrics for furniture manufacturers, fabric distributors, and large retailers.
Job Summary: General upkeep of all plant property and equipment.
Tools and Equipment used: Hand tools such as wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, hammers, hacksaws, micrometers, calipers, etc. and power tools such as drills, portable band saws, etc.
Essential Functions: Perform the following duties according to ISO 9001 work instructions and standards: Plan the procedures for the setup, installation, and repair of production and building equipment; special purpose machines; high pressure steam, water, air, and gas lines/systems; electrical and electronic controls; piping, and tubing. Repair plant facilities including flooring and tile. Perform general carpentry work. Inspect equipment for proper lubrication and perform preventive maintenance. Diagnose trouble, disassemble, determine extent of repairs, estimate labor time for outside repairs and/or make needed repairs and adjustments on plant facilities/equipment/machinery. Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, and other machine tools. Plan and lay out work for lower classified mechanics. Weld and work with sheet metal as required. Work scheduled overtime. Clean up after each maintenance activity using good housekeeping standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Safety:
Perform all duties in a safe manner following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers. Report all job related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor immediately. Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards. Ear protection in high noise areas, safety belt, gloves, and other specialized equipment required to perform job safely. Position Requirements
Qualifications:
Good communication skills with the ability to work well with others. Proficient in reading, writing, and performing basic math skills in the English language. Experience in welding, pipefitting, boilers, air conditioners, air compressors, and operation of lathes and milling machines. Must possess good mechanical ability. Heavy lifting required.
