ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSE – JUVENILE SERVICES (INTERMITTENT)

Provides advanced professional nursing care, including the delivery of primary health care, diagnosis and treatment of common medical conditions, health education, and counseling. Plans, coordinates, administers, reviews, and evaluates nursing and related health services provided in Juvenile Services programs. Performs related work as required.

Job Specification . Minimum qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Sufficient advanced, specialized nursing training to qualify for Nevada certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, with a subspecialty in pediatrics or family medicine. Ideal Candidate: Ability to work independently. Experience working with children or at-risk populations. License or Certificates required: Valid driver’s license at the time of appointment. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Nevada. Licensure as an APRN in Nevada within three months of appointment. Licensure to prescribe from the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy within three months of appointment. Post-interview requirements include passing a background check, fingerprint submission, personal history statement, and TB test at own expense. This position is not classified and not covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Note on employment type: Intermittent hourly employees work on an on-call basis, less than 1040 hours annually, and are at-will employees. Retired PERS employees should verify earnings limits with PERS to retain benefits. Washoe County employees must reside in Nevada or nearby California communities as of their first day. Juvenile Services is under the District Court, not part of Washoe County's merit system, and employees are not union members. However, benefits and salary are comparable to other departments.
