Position: Application Monitoring EngineerLocation: Arlington Heights, IllinoisDuration: ContractJob ID: 169437Shift timing: 3 rd Shift (11 PM - 7:30 AM Central time)Contractor must be available to train on days for about 2-6 weeks depending on how long it takes themMust Have Skills: System administrator - Linux/Window with real-time monitoring experience AWS experience Enterprise monitoring experience including Application Performance Monitoring - Dynatrace is a plus Job Overview:This position is a critical role within the Digital Technology Command Center, providing 24/7 operational support through proactive monitoring. As part of the Application Recovery Team (ART), the Systems Engineer III will support monitoring for digital channels, production environments, application health, and distributed systems. The role involves working with Unix/Linux, Windows, VMware, HyperV, Middleware, and AWS Cloud environments. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring application performance, availability, and restoration of services while adhering to ITIL Service Management best practices.Responsibilities: Provide day-to-day support for application recovery and availability in digital channels. Perform system administration for Windows, Unix/Linux, HPUX, AIX, Solaris, and Linux environments. Monitor and support critical processes in Cloud, Virtualization, Middleware, Database, Storage, and Backup areas. Utilize enterprise monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Datadog, AppDynamics, Big Panda, SCOM, and LogicMonitor. Respond to alerts from monitoring tools and escalate issues as needed. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve unplanned outages and improve system stability. Write scripts using Shell, Python, etc., to automate remediation of alerts and enhance system efficiency. Follow ITIL Service Management practices, including Change, Incident, and Problem Management activities. Communicate effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders. Ensure enterprise standards and security are maintained on hardware and software. Support incident response processes and implement improvements to prevent recurring issues. Work on a midnight shift (11:00 PM - 7:30 AM CST) and be available for weekend shifts. Qualifications: 1-2 years of experience in an operational support role. Intermediate systems administration experience in Unix/Linux and Windows server environments. Strong knowledge of ITSM Service Management best practices. Experience with application performance tools and enterprise monitoring tools. Familiarity with Middleware components such as Weblogic, Websphere, and DataPower. Understanding of virtual technologies like VMware and HyperV. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell and Python. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to analyze application systems issues and assess impact. Reliable and punctual attendance is essential.
