Description

The Division of Consumer Protection was created within the Department of Insurance in 1998 to offer assistanceto consumers with insurance-related issues. The division is responsible for handling consumer complaintsagainst health, life, auto, homeowners and commercial insurance. The division also takes complaints regardingthe actions of an agent or agency.

We are looking for an Administrative Specialist Senior to join our team of highly skilled professionals. Asan Administrative Specialist Senior, you will Provide high-level professional administrative support tointernal staff and leadership related to the Division of Consumer Protection's business operations. Performduties in the oversight of intricate processes such as activities involving mandated regulations orprocedures, comprehensive research, or collaboration with internal and external stakeholders; and performother duties as required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides high-level professional administrative support to the Consumer Protection Division. Plans andorganize functions for the Division; data correction, task assignments, managing open records, and filemaintenance. Facilitates the process of Open Record requests and serves as the designated eService contact. Integratesinsurance companies into the eService framework. Ensures the agency database reflects the latest informationfrom insurance companies. Contacts insurance providers to gather updates on information required by the state. Performs in-depth review on complaint reports and recommends policy changes. Receive and return consumerand insurance companies calls. Manually enter and correct Consumer Complaints within the Consumer Protectionand Education database. Interprets departmental in-depth policies to the public and departmental employees. Orders supplies forstaff, maintains inventory and coordinates with department inventory officer as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Other Preferred Skills and Abilities:

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
