If you think school should feel more like a high-performance training camp than a chore, keep reading.
NextGen Academy isn't your average school. We compress the academic day into two focused hours of adaptive learning, then hand the rest of the afternoon to competitive video gaming. That's right: Fortnite, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros, and other eSports titles become the arena where our students — 5th through 8th graders — build real-world skills, confidence, and drive.
We're not looking for teachers. We want elite performers who can mentor, inspire, and raise the bar. People with magnetic energy. People who've chased big goals and know how to coach others to do the same — whether that's through eSports, athletics, academia, or entrepreneurship. This is a full-time, in-person role at our flagship Austin, TX campus. Your mission: lead our students to academic mastery and personal transformation through structure, energy, and eSports.
You'll show up every day ready to bring the heat. You'll be the adult in the room, but never boring. You'll coach these kids like a team, drive standards like a champion, and make learning feel like leveling up.
You've probably never imagined yourself working in a school — and we love that. If you're passionate about competitive gaming, eSports, and technology, and you've got the drive to inspire the next generation to win both in and out of the game, then you belong at NextGen.
What You Will Be Doing
- Driving academic focus by reinforcing productive routines, pushing kids to meet daily goals, and building a culture of discipline during their 2-hour learning blocks.
- Coaching structured eSports sessions each afternoon, sharpening student skills in communication, teamwork, and strategic thinking.
- Modeling high performance — from punctuality and resilience to effort, focus, and emotional control.
- Building a competitive culture where learning and gaming are treated like elite training, not passive entertainment.
- Mentoring students 1:1 — spotting blockers, recognizing breakthroughs, and helping kids hold the line on their own progress.
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Creating lesson plans or grading assignments — you'll never be asked to design instruction or teach from a textbook.
- Managing a classroom in the traditional sense — you're not giving lectures or running group instruction.
- Letting kids coast — this is not a gaming free-for-all or a laid-back summer camp. You will push.
- Running a quiet, compliant environment — your job is to channel energy, not suppress it.
