As an Environmental Specialist, you will perform specialized professional environmental work and assist in the management of the consultant contracts, performing advanced environmental studies. Coordinates with the Department, other state and federal agencies and interest groups on environmental matters. The employee in this position serves as the District Efficient Transportation Decision Making (ETDM) Coordinator and the Natural Resources Coordinator. Through cooperation, coordination and collaboration among the OneFDOT team, you will be contributing to a strong and empowering culture of TRREC: Trust, Relationships, Respect, Empowerment, and Communication. Florida Department of Transportation Intermodal Systems Development 11201 N. McKinley Dr. Tampa, FL. 33612 The successful candidate will have the following required knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of the Department of Transportation or related project development, NEPA and linking planning and environmental review processes. Contract management practices. Project management practices. Skills in managing multiple tasks with multiple deadlines. Ability to think critically and solve problems. Read and interpret construction plans. Use computer programs including databases and GIS systems. Deal with the public in a courteous manner. Plan, organize, and complete assignments. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Work independently with minimal supervision. Collect, evaluate, and interpret data. Minimum qualifications: Six years of professional or nonprofessional experience (including internships or co-ops) in transportation; natural, physical, social, or environmental sciences; archaeology or cultural resources; environmental or civil engineering; OR registration as a Professional Engineer in accordance with Florida Statute 471 and one year of experience to which the position is assigned? A master's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental sciences or engineering or transportation can substitute for the required experience.
