Overview
The PACU Nurse performs pre and post-operative procedures. He/she is responsible to the Nurse Manager of PACU and works closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other members of the operative team. The PACU Nurse is independently responsible for the welfare and safety of the patient pre/post the surgical procedure. Responsibilities
Training and skills in specific specialties of surgical nursing. Ability to perform the duties of the post-anesthesia nurse. Ability to perform the duties of the pre-op nurse. Ability to administer moderate sedation according to policy under the direction of the surgeon. Knowledgeable and understanding of the California Nursing Practice Act (California Business and Professions Code 2725). Knowledge and implementation of all policies, procedures, guidelines, rules, and regulations of Nursing Service, Seton Medical Center, AHMC Health System, Title XXII, Joint Commission, National Patient Safety Goals, and Core Measures. Ability to communicate clearly with written and verbal proficiency required. Basic computer skills required. Ability to engage in and display the behaviors and tenets of the AHMC Health System patient satisfaction program required. Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years of OR experience; PACU experience; excellent communication skills. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State of California required. Current ACLS required. Current BLS required.
