Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be tentatively referred and selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial appointment requirements are deemed to have met the basic requirements.
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved medical school.
- Current unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
- Residency Training: Completion of an accredited residency program leading to board eligibility, approved by the VA.
- Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs are eligible for appointment as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed physicians and are appointed on an intermittent or fee basis.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Physical requirements include lifting 15-44 pounds, reaching above shoulder, walking and standing for 3-5 hours, and other physical standards detailed in the job posting.
Duties
- This is an open continuous announcement until September 30, 2025, with initial application cut-off on July 31, 2025, and subsequent bi-weekly cut-offs.
- Eligible applications received after the initial cut-off will be considered as vacancies arise.
