In this role, you'll thrive in customer service by supporting the Customer Service Supervisor, Accounting Technicians and our Office Assistant, in daily operations and ensuring everything runs smoothly.

With a strong emphasis on precision, excellence, and initiative, you'll manage borrower records, maintain clear communication, and assist in creating professional loan applications and informational materials. You'll also play a key role in modernizing internal records through digitization and contribute to the coordination of team projects.

As the friendly and reliable face of our Customer Service section, you'll provide exceptional, customer-focused service to current and prospective borrowers, whether in person or telephonically, directing to them to the appropriate person within the various sections in our division.

Our organization, mission and culture:
The Division of Investments administers and services several state loan programs, across various industries. These programs promote economic development through direct state lending in industries and areas of the state that are not adequately serviced by the private sector, thus ensuring Alaska is open for business. You will occupy a pivotal role within the Customer Service team, ensuring that projects are coordinated between internal customers and financial records are maintained in the pursuit of the departments mission.

The Division of Investments is located on the 9th floor of the State Office Building in beautiful downtown Juneau, Alaska. The office features an open floor plan with splendid views of Gastineau Channel and the surrounding mountain ranges. Special Notice: This position requires providing backup support to the Office Assistant 1 role, which involves driving a division-provided vehicle daily. Applicants must possess a valid drivers license and be willing and able to drive regularly to succeed in this position.

Due to the recent recruitment hiring freeze, only positions necessary to protect the health and safety of Alaskans and that meet essential State responsibilities will be filled.

High school diploma or the equivalent.
AND
One year of experience that includes clerical tasks such as performing reception duties, answering routine questions on services or products, retrieving information from electronic or hard copy files, recording expenditures and receipts, or typing routine correspondence.
Substitution:
Education from an accredited college may substitute for six months of the required experience (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education equal one month of experience).
Special Note:
High school diploma equivalent means one of the following: 1) a G.E.D.; 2) completion of any basic adult education course equivalent to 480 class hours (16 weeks at 30 course hours per week); 3) acceptance in full standing by an accredited college or university; 4) highest grade of school completed plus an amount of paid or volunteer experience that totals 12 years and includes basic clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs.
Some positions in this class may require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles. Such positions require that the applicant possess a regular driver's license and be 18 years of age or older.
Some positions in this class may require skill in typing. Recruitment and selection may include this requirement.
