AEM Technical Architect
As the lead of UMGC's Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) development team, the AEM Technical Architect directs design, development, and implementation efforts of the website for University of Maryland Global Campus. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of AEM and related technologies and a proven track record of delivering high-quality digital experiences. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the university's digital presence and support recruitment and retention efforts through enhancing digital customer engagement. The Technical Architect must be a highly motivated, quality driven, development leader and will oversee development efforts for the team. While strategic thinking and coordination are important elements of this role, the Technical Architect will be required to take a very hands-on role with design and development and other related activities. Duties and Responsibilities: Lead the architectural design and implementation of AEM solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and the adoption of best practices. Develop and maintain comprehensive AEM architecture blueprints, including system architecture, data models, and integration patterns. Define and enforce architectural standards, guidelines, and best practices. Evaluate and recommend appropriate AEM technologies and modules to meet project requirements. Design and implement custom components, templates, and workflows within AEM to meet specific business needs. Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications and architectural diagrams for AEM implementations. Manage end-to-end project lifecycles, including requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, and deployment. Provide hands-on design leadership in large or complex development projects involving application development, migrations, integrations, enhancements to existing applications. Analyze cross-functional business processes, identify alternative solutions, assess feasibility, and recommend best practices. Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues. Work closely with UX/UI designers, content strategists, and marketing teams to create seamless digital experiences. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the team, which includes several developers, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices. Conduct training sessions for internal teams on AEM best practices and functionalities. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment. Oversee integration of AEM with other platforms, including CRM, marketing automation, and analytics tools. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver AEM projects on time and within budget. Participate in project planning, estimation, and risk assessment. Ensure successful deployment and migration of AEM solutions. Stay up-to-date with the latest AEM features and best practices. Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation. Contribute to the development of reusable components and frameworks. Conduct regular assessments of AEM performance and optimize for speed, usability, and user experience. Education & Experience Requirements: Minimum of 4 years of experience in AEM architecture and development, with a strong portfolio of successful implementations. Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in developing web solutions. Proficiency in AEM 6.x and above, including Sites, Assets, and Forms modules. Proficiency in AEM authoring, publishing, and digital asset management. Experience integrating AEM with other systems, such as CRM, ERP, and marketing automation platforms. Strong knowledge of Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related web technologies. Experience with AEM integrations (e.g., Adobe Analytics, Adobe Target). Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD. Adobe Experience Manager credentials/certifications preferred. All submissions should include a cover letter and resume.
