Staff Accountant
We are looking for a dedicated staff accountant to join our team in Garfield Heights, Ohio. In this role, you will play a key part in managing financial records, ensuring accuracy, and supporting business operations through detailed financial analysis. This position is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in accounting principles and a passion for process improvement. Responsibilities include: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and promptly. Support the month-end close process by preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data. Collaborate with internal and external auditors by providing required documentation and explanations, and implement recommended improvements to strengthen controls. Manage accounts receivable invoicing and accounts payable processes to ensure timely and accurate transactions. Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies, while staying updated on changes in accounting standards. Assist in preparing budgets and financial forecasts, track performance against budgets, and conduct variance analyses to provide actionable insights. Perform in-depth financial data analysis to identify trends, resolve discrepancies, and support strategic decision-making. Seek and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes, enhancing both efficiency and accuracy. Handle ad-hoc financial analyses and special projects as needed to support the organization. Requirements include a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. At least 1-2 years of accounting experience with a strong focus on detail; experience in Big 4 or top-tier public accounting firms is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for financial analysis and reporting. Hands-on experience with NetSuite or similar enterprise accounting systems; report writing experience is advantageous. Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and journal entries. Ability to manage month-end close processes efficiently and accurately. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial data clearly and effectively.
