Accounting Specialist
We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Specialist for a contract opportunity with a reputable client. This position requires expertise in bank reconciliation, general ledger account reconciliation, and other core accounting functions. The role reports to the VP of Accounting and is ideal for professionals looking to leverage their knowledge in a structured, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform bank account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Handle general ledger account reconciliations, ensuring all entries are properly recorded and balanced.
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports, including identifying variances and supporting the month-end close process.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Review and analyze transactions to ensure proper coding, accuracy, and compliance.
- Identify and resolve issues related to reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Provide support for audits and any other ad hoc financial projects as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in bank and general ledger account reconciliation (minimum 2+ years preferred).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software systems (e.g., QuickBooks, ERP systems, etc.) and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP formulas, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in fast-paced environments.
Additional Information:
This is a contract position with consistent Monday-Friday hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM).
