Student Assistant - Volunteerism & Service-Learning
Support the Volunteerism & Service-Learning team in implementing service events, outreach efforts, and engagement initiatives that connect students with the Austin community. Responsibilities: Assist with event planning and execution for the UT Volunteer Fair, Nonprofit Networking Breakfast, and Days of Service by identifying logistical needs, coordinating operations, and supporting event staffing and marketing Create and distribute outreach materials through thoughtful design and innovative use of Instagram, digital display screens, newsletter media, flyers, handouts, and website enhancements Contribute to external communications, including written content for the VSL Canvas page and @volunteer_ut Instagram account Support community partner outreach, communication, and coordination efforts Collaborate with campus colleagues and community stakeholders to promote engagement initiatives Track and assess campus and community engagement through data collection and evaluation tools Organize, maintain, and retrieve digital and physical files accurately and securely, in compliance with university data policies Participate in regular team meetings and provide administrative support as needed Demonstrate effective written and oral communication with internal and external audiences Exhibit personal accountability, punctuality, adaptability, and the ability to manage workload independently and collaboratively Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled undergraduate student at UT Austin during the 20252026 academic year Eligible for Federal Work-Study Strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and ability to manage time effectively Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment Interest in service, civic engagement, or community-based programming Preferred Qualification
Experience planning or supporting events, particularly student-led or service-oriented programs Skills in visual design, marketing, or content creation for platforms such as Instagram, digital displays, and newsletters Familiarity with volunteer coordination, nonprofit outreach, or campuscommunity partnerships Experience working with data tracking or program assessment tools Salary Range
$15.00 per hour (work study only) Working Conditions
Typical office environment; repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation; onsite at the SSB. Work Shift
