American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring at least 18 months of recent Med/Surg experience and strong trauma or surgical skills.Job Details•Position involves floating among multiple Med/Surg units including Trauma Surgical, Neuroscience, Oncology, Clinical Decision Unit, Orthopedics, and Urology within a hospital setting,•Patient ratios range from 1:5 to 1:6 depending on the unit,•Units care for diverse populations: trauma/surgical, general Med/Surg, neuro, ortho/spine, oncology, urology, and more,•RNs are required to interpret and confirm telemetry strip readings every 4 hours,•Shifts are 12 hours (7a-7p or 7p-7a) on a 4-week cycle, with every other weekend or four weekend days per month required,•No on-call responsibilities,•Floating occurs between like units and related patient locations as needed,•Cerner EMR is used with experience preferred,•Orientation for new travelers or those absent over a year includes 24 hours in classroom and 24 hours on unit,•60-mile radius rule applies-no local candidates are eligible,Job Requirements•Active RN license (any state) required; Alabama license can be in process at time of submission,•BLS and NIHSS certifications required,•Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Surg RN experience required,•At least 1 year of trauma or surgical nursing experience needed for specific units,•Competence in wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration, telemetry interpretation, and other specialized clinical skills based on unit assignment,•Not eligible if employed as permanent staff within the past 6 months,•Chemo certification preferred for Oncology/MedSurg unit,Additional Information•RNs provide care for patients with a wide range of diagnoses and care needs including complex trauma, stroke, neuro, ortho, oncology, and post-surgical cases,•Support is provided by CNAs, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and charge nurses,•Classroom and unit orientation is provided for new and returning travelers,•RNs must follow hospital protocols for documentation, communication, and patient safety including tele monitoring and falls prevention,•Scrub color is flexible; any color allowed,•Holiday scheduling follows facility guidelines with expectation to cover at least one major and one minor holiday; specifics are not guaranteed in advance,•Time off can be approved up to 7 days, excluding pre-defined blackout dates,•First-time travelers are welcome if they meet experience requirements,•Facility parking is available in the deck, levels 2-4,),•hash,:•15509464021316972247,
