Job Summary: The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative (PSR II) serves as a trusted liaison between patients and the diagnostic lab. This role focuses on collecting high-quality blood samples and preparing them for testing, while also maintaining a professional, safe, and empathetic environment. The PSR II must demonstrate exceptional phlebotomy skills, strong organizational awareness, and sensitivity to patient confidentiality. Assignments may include work in a patient service center, physician's office, or other healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities: Perform venipuncture and specimen collection confidently, including pediatric and geriatric draws Provide clear and compassionate communication to patients regarding procedures Accurately label, scan, and process specimens following established protocols Maintain a safe and professional environment in compliance with company and health standards Support multiple locations and rotate as needed (includes weekends, holidays, and overtime) Document patient demographics and lab records accurately Handle high-volume, fast-paced work with efficiency and focus Promote a positive, professional image of the organization through interactions with patients, clients, and colleagues Required Experience:
3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 2 years in a Patient Service Center setting preferred Experience with data entry and medical documentation Nice-to-Have Experience:
Customer service experience in retail, healthcare, or service environments Previous work with diagnostic labs or medical providers Experience handling multiple site assignments Required Skills:
Advanced phlebotomy skills Strong time management and multitasking Excellent customer service and communication Attention to detail and error-free documentation Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of lab compliance and safety protocols Comfort working independently with minimal supervision Reliable transportation and clean driving record (as applicable) Familiarity with medical assistant or paramedic training Phlebotomy certification (Required in CA, NV, and WA; preferred in CO) Additional Skills:
Forensic and clinical specimen collection Patient identity verification and compliance tracking Use of lab software and label scanning systems Adherence to company dress code and health/safety standards
