The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) plays a
vital front-line role
in patient engagement and diagnostic services. Responsible for drawing blood samples, ensuring specimen integrity, and maintaining patient comfort, this position supports both routine wellness and diagnostic care in a fast-paced healthcare setting. PSRs work independently or in teams, often assigned to patient service centers, in-office locations, or other facilities as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Perform accurate venipuncture and specimen collection following established clinical and forensic protocols. Confirm patient demographic data, label specimens in patient's presence, and ensure ID accuracy. Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment. Promote positive public and patient perception of healthcare services. Document procedures, results, and compliance per medical and regulatory standards. Adapt to high-volume or mobile clinical environments with minimal supervision. Support operational needs including weekends, holidays, or travel coverage. Required Experience
High school diploma or equivalent (mandatory). 3+ years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary draws. 2+ years in a patient-facing clinical environment preferred. Previous customer service experience in healthcare, retail, or service setting. Keyboarding and data entry proficiency. Nice-to-Have Experience
Medical assistant or paramedic background. Phlebotomy certification (preferred; not required in TX). Experience working across multiple locations or floating between clinics. Required Skills
Advanced phlebotomy across age groups Independent decision-making Patient communication and education Reliable transportation and valid driver's license (if applicable) Compliance with safety and quality protocols Preferred Skills
Strong multitasking in high-volume settings Transparent team communication Knowledge of HIP nd healthcare privacy practices Additional Skills
