Job Summary
The primary purpose of the Administrative Assistant is to enhance the effectiveness of the College of Pharmacy, by supporting its mission and goals. This is accomplished by ensuring the day to day activities required to allow the College to function and meet its goals are completed and communicated in a timely and professional manner. This is a temporary position with a rate of pay at $17/hr.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities; or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. 1. Excellent computer skills in order to use standard office software tools, and the ability to learn new tools required of the position. 2. Requires the ability to speak in front of a class of 120 to 160 students in order to provide clear directions and information related to class procedures as needed. 2. Must have the ability to compose and/or proofread text/correspondence. 3. Strong math skills. 4. Must be able to communicate effectively with all members of the Western University of Health Sciences community in writing and verbally.
Required Qualifications
Education: Candidates holding an Associate's or bachelor's degree are preferred. High School Diploma or Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required. Experience: 6 months to 1 year of secretarial or administrative assistant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with the following experience or training are preferred: 1. Having an earned Associate or Bachelors Degree in Education, English or Communications. 2. Experience working at an academic institution. 3. Experience working with students.
Essential Job Duties
Key Responsibilities
Provides administrative and secretarial support as needed to the Office of Experiential Education.
Using MS Excel to sum, average, and sort data to generate reports.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare reports. Write letters. Book Travel. Process reimbursements. Support on-campus events.
Key Responsibilities
Provide assistance to faculty facilitating courses such as making copies for teaching material and preparing invoices and lecture agreements for guest speakers.
Key Responsibilities
Other duties as assigned.

Monday to Friday 8 A.M. - 5 P.M. Infrequent evening and weekend hours are required as needed.
