Job Description
Essential Job Functions:
Interview, hire, and onboard salaried and hourly employees. Maintain accurate records of employment for salaried and hourly staff. Coach and partner with hiring managers to build strong and effective teams. Lead salary planning, administration, and performance review processes. Direct and support department HR team members with goals, objectives, and developmental needs. Administer and enforce labor contracts, ensuring compliance across departments. Respond to grievances at the 3rd step and guide departments through 1st and 2nd step processes. Actively participate in contract negotiations and union discussions. Develop and maintain plant policies, procedures, and rules. Administer disciplinary action as required for policy/rule infractions. Develop, manage, and monitor the HR departmental budget. Ensure compliance with all state and federal employment laws (ADA, EEOC, FMLA, etc.). Assist the EHS Manager with safety leadership, including the Executive Safety Committee. Lead attendance program administration, payroll processing, hourly vacation scheduling, and overtime scheduling. Provide benefits support in partnership with Corporate Benefits. Facilitate professional development and training initiatives, including team skills training. Generate and submit monthly Key Operating Performance (KOP) metrics and reports to corporate. Drive hiring process for salaried employees in conjunction with Corporate Talent Management and Plant leadership. Administer employee programs such as safety glass, EAP referrals, and employment verifications. Support continuous improvement initiatives including Quality, Environmental, and 5-S programs. Qualifications:
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive HR experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least three (3) years in a union facility. Strong labor relations background, including grievance administration and contract negotiations. Demonstrated knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and compliance requirements. Experience with payroll administration, benefits, and HRIS systems. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Proven ability to partner effectively with operations leadership to drive organizational performance. Deliverables:
Department goals and objectives aligned with plant and corporate strategy. Annual salary plan and performance review process completed on schedule. Accurate and timely monthly KOP and HR reports. Timely completion of projects and initiatives. Full compliance with documentation, policies, labor agreements, and legal requirements. Contribution to improved plant performance and profitability through HR initiatives. Education:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required (or equivalent experience).
