We have a Texas-based Private Equity client who is looking for a Fractional Controller (15 to 25 hours per week) to manage and professionalize the financial and administrative infrastructure of their private equity firm.

The individual will oversee all firm-level and investment entity accounting, reporting, compliance, and budgeting activities. They will supervise internal and external accounting and bookkeeping resources, coordinate with fund administrators and legal/tax advisors, and help scale internal controls and systems to support a growing investment platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage all accounting, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, financial reporting, capital planning, and expense oversight for the PE firm and affiliated entities.
• Supervise internal and external accounting and bookkeeping resources.
• Oversee tax filings, year-end audits, compliance processes, and coordinate with legal and regulatory advisors.
• Maintain and enhance firm banking relationships, insurance coverage, employee benefits administration, and IT infrastructure.
• Oversee VC fund and SPV operations: capital activity, LP communications, fund-level accounting, audit/tax processes, and document compliance.
• Maintain fund administrator relationships (e.g., Carta) and ensure clean and timely investor records and reporting.
• Review waterfall calculations and investor allocation models in coordination with internal teams and advisors.

Investment Oversight

• Lead administration and oversight of all SPVs and direct investments, including accounting, tax, investor reporting, capital calls, and distributions.
• Monitor capital flows, equity tracking, and investor allocations across complex investment structures.
• Support ongoing post-close investment operations, including revenue/expense tracking, K-1 delivery, and legacy admin relationships.

Investor Relations Support

• Collaborate with the partners to prepare quarterly reporting packages and performance updates.
• Ensure timely and accurate delivery of capital call notices, distribution notices, and K-1s to LPs.
• Help build and maintain investor reporting infrastructure within platforms like Carta.
• Support ad hoc LP requests, data validation, and communications during fundraising and post-close activity.

Compliance & Operational Controls

• Maintain compliance calendars and entity-level documentation (e.g., beneficial ownership, registrations).
• Lead development of accounting SOPs, dashboards, and scalable reporting templates.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and strong internal controls across firm and fund activity.

Strategic Financial Leadership

• Partner with the firms leadership on strategic planning, budgeting, and scenario analysis.
• Recommend systems and process improvements to support scale, transparency, and operational excellence.
• Serve as a trusted steward of financial integrity and fiduciary responsibility to LPs, partners, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with 3+ years in private equity, venture capital, or family office environments
• Direct experience with multi-entity structures, SPVs, and partnership accounting
• Fluency in GAAP, tax reporting, and capital account mechanics
• Proficiency with financial systems such as QuickBooks Online, Carta, and Google Workspace
• Proven ability to lead accounting functions, manage third-party vendors, and work cross-functionally
