Job Overview
Lead, oversee, and participate in complex engineering work supporting Capital Improvement Projects and daily operations of assigned facilities. Assume management responsibilities for various engineering projects and perform technical tasks within assigned areas. General Notes

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited institution, plus six (6) years of professional engineering experience, including four (4) years of supervisory experience. OR Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field, plus four (4) years of professional engineering experience, including four (4) years supervisory experience. Additional Requirements
Valid New Mexico Driver's License or ability to obtain one by hire date. City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months of hire. Professional Engineer (PE) license; out-of-state PE license holders must obtain New Mexico license within six (6) months of hire. Technical Knowledge
Operations and activities of professional engineering programs. Leadership, supervision, and training principles. Program administration, budgeting, and control. Traffic signal, roadway lighting, and geometric design principles. Traffic control devices and maintenance practices for sewer, street, and traffic systems. Safety practices and relevant laws, codes, and regulations. Civil and architectural construction practices. Environmental health procedures related to landfill and remediation systems (if assigned). Responsibilities
Lead, organize, and review staff work. Perform advanced professional engineering duties independently. Interpret and enforce policies and procedures. Manage engineering projects. Analyze traffic issues and develop solutions. Review engineering plans and specifications. Prepare and manage budgets. Coordinate construction, operation, and maintenance activities. Enforce laws and regulations. Coordinate with other agencies and divisions. Respond to public inquiries. Problem-solving and decision-making in support of organizational goals. Maintain effective communication and working relationships.
