Responsibilities:
Provides day-to-day guidance, coaching, and support to management and staff regarding employee relations issues, performance behaviors, interpretation of employment laws, and policies and procedures. Ensures that employee relations issues such as employee complaints of harassment, retaliation and discrimination are thoroughly investigated and resolved.
Reviews all performance counseling to ensure clear communication of issues are addressed, provide the details necessary to support actions are appropriate and equitable and do not violate any state or federal laws.
Ensures that investigations are conducted timely and within established procedures. Makes recommendations for resolution regarding issues of staff disputes and/or misconduct. Ensures all documentation is complete and stored appropriately for future reference.
Collaborate with HR leadership to update, implement, and communicate workplace policies and procedures.
Deliver training and workshops for managers on topics such as ADA management, HR compliance, best practices in employee and labor relations, principles surrounding discipline, performance management etc.
Ensure organizational compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including EEO, FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Workers’ Comp, and NLRA
Ensures that exit interviews are completed timely, and trends are identified and communicated.
Analyze employee relations metrics, trends, and patterns to identify opportunities for improvement and make recommendations to address route cause of the issues.
Effective case management in ServiceNow.
Other duties as assigned by management.
What we are looking for:
Bachelor’s degree - Required; Human Resources, Labor Relations, Psychology, or related field required.
5-7yrs of progressive experience in employee relations and labor relations, with expertise in union environments.
Certifications such as PHR; SPHR is highly desirable
Strong knowledge of employment laws and labor relations practices.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex investigations and resolve sensitive workplace issues.
Proven track record of implementing proactive employee relations strategies to drive organizational success.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and process-orientation
Strong customer relationship skills.
Ability to collaborate with respective team members and internal clients.
Proven ability to influence various stakeholders, both internal and external.
Excellent presentation skills.
Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
Thorough understanding of negotiation techniques and dispute resolution.
Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations.
