Ultimate Staffing is actively seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to join their client's team in Union City, California. This position plays a key role in supporting a dynamic and purpose-driven organization. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for a variety of HR functions and works closely with individuals across all levels of the company. This fast-paced role requires a perceptive and empathetic professional capable of delivering an exceptional employee experience through clear, effective, and compassionate communication. Base pay range
$70,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr Responsibilities
Serve as the first point of contact for HR inquiries; triage and direct questions appropriately. Maintain accurate and complete employee records, including policies and training documentation. Support onboarding and offboarding processes for both union and non-union employees. Manage recruitment efforts, including job postings, resume screening, interviews, and reference checks. Partner with management to assess and implement staff development and training initiatives. Assist employees with benefits enrollment and inquiries (non-union). Conduct background checks and reference verifications. Perform audits to ensure data accuracy and legal compliance. Complete EDD forms and maintain confidentiality of HR information. Administer leave of absence and accommodation processes; ensure accurate data entry in HRIS and payroll systems. Oversee workers' compensation, disability, and health/safety issues. Respond to employee queries regarding PTO, W-2s, payroll, HRIS, and leave. Ensure compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements; collaborate with Payroll as needed. Provide compensation reports and implement necessary changes. Build and maintain relationships with union representatives. Monitor and implement policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Support administrative tasks for HR and Training/Safety departments. Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures and Employee Handbook. Perform clerical duties including document filing, scanning, and correspondence. Other duties as assigned. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution abilities. High attention to detail and organizational skills. Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines. Analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality. In-depth knowledge of employment laws and HR practices. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, sometimes high-pressure environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Commitment to outstanding customer service. Union experience preferred but not required. Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field (preferred). Experience with HRIS and talent management systems. Workers' compensation and leave administration experience (required). Employee relations experience (required). Bilingual in English and Spanish (strongly preferred but not required). Required Work Hours
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Benefits
This position offers a competitive salary range of $75,000 to $90,000 per year, with approximately 5% travel time required.
