Overview

A global logistics provider is seeking an experienced Branch Manager to oversee operations at their freight forwarding site in the Chicago metro area. This leadership role carries full accountability for branch results, covering operations, financial management, customer relationships, and team development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in freight forwarding and proven success leading teams to deliver service excellence and profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily forwarding activities, ensuring compliance with U.S. and international regulations
  • Manage import, export, and customs brokerage functions while maintaining strong partnerships with carriers, agents, and clients
  • Drive profitability by managing budgets, controlling costs, and identifying revenue opportunities
  • Establish and enforce SOPs to maintain high service quality and operational consistency
  • Resolve service issues promptly while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction
  • Strengthen customer and partner relationships across diverse industry sectors
  • Lead, train, and mentor staff to build a high-performing team culture
  • Ensure compliance with safety, security, and regulatory requirements (including OSHA and TSA)
  • Work with senior leadership on performance reporting, branch strategy, and growth objectives
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and manage teams
  • Business acumen with experience in P&L ownership and financial oversight
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, written and verbal
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Solutions-focused mindset with the ability to influence and build trust internally and externally

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years in freight forwarding with direct knowledge of import/export and brokerage processes
  • At least 5 years of management or supervisory experience within logistics or transportation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics software systems
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to pass TSA, drug, and background checks
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%)

Additional Information

This is a full-time exempt role, based primarily in an office environment with occasional work in warehouse or operational settings. Overtime and flexibility may be required to meet branch demands.
