Responsibilities
SPA's Integrated Warfare Systems Group (IWSG) is seeking a dedicated Senior Database Engineer to support the Space Systems Development Department (SSDD), the primary space and ground support systems research and development organization of the Naval Center for Space Technology (NCST), an organization within the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, DC. This organization provides Navy Space Program technology development and acquisition of space, aerospace, and Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems to assist Naval Missions. Responsibilities include advanced research and development for scientific, technical, and engineering efforts associated with the development and integration of C4ISR systems. This position is full-time onsite at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. We expect to hire for this position in late 2025.

Salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are commensurate with experience and qualifications. Washington, DC Pay Transparency Range: $140,000 - $180,000.
Qualifications
Required
- BS Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science
- Minimum relevant experience of twelve (12) years
- DoD granted TOP SECRET security clearance with SCI eligibility, and the ability to maintain it throughout employment
Desired
- Experience applying software development methodologies and practices, including traditional structured programming as well as object-oriented programming techniques and broad utilization of current software development tools within numerous requirements, specifically to planning, design, development, testing, installation, and maintenance of complex technical software systems
- Experience in producing technical and user documentation, training, and system orientation, and consulting with related development teams throughout the software development life cycle
- Experience in all aspects of software development supporting complex Multi-INT processing from initial planning and design to final installation and maintenance
- Experience with enterprise computing and architecture design capability for ground-based analysis systems, to include system information modeling and database design
- Experience incorporating system architecture using enterprise design, business process modeling (BPM), workflow implementation, and web-based/semantics-based development methodologies
- Experience developing and implementing databases to store raw data collection and Multi-INT fusion products necessary to support dissemination to the Warfighter
- Experience leveraging knowledge of terrestrial and space surveillance methodologies, sensor technologies and capabilities, and ability to envision new modes of operation via an evolutionary development process
- Ability to monitor wage and salary budgets and expense account data to affect control of established budget factors and policy limitations, including: ensuring that fiscal responsibilities are in compliance with Government and program requirements, managing the MDA integrated project schedule and financial tracking efforts, maintaining the MS ACCESS database to manage and report on financial execution status to sponsors, and developing proposals for new and ongoing MDA efforts
