Overview

A Technical Account Manager role at IBM means you are a trusted advisor with deep technical expertise, working with clients – directly or through our seller partners – to craft best-of-breed solutions to their technology challenges. You’ll take a consultative approach to uncover clients' most pressing technology pain points and guide them to solutions mapped to IBM's people, products, and services. As a natural leader, strategic systems thinker, and business influencer, you’ll orchestrate resources within IBM and/or our Partners to bring those solutions to life. Your Role And Responsibilities Technical Account Manager acts as the trusted technical advisor to IBM and/or 3rd-party Partner clients. You’ll collaborate across pre- and post-sales teams to help set the most appropriate technology strategy and solution design that meets current and future client needs. Your Primary Responsibilities

Cultivate a collaborative, growth-focused culture that drives results. Drive product adoption across IBM’s portfolio by demonstrating value within the client’s business context and competitive landscape. Own and lead a client’s experience of IBM technology and define use-cases from their technical strategies. Engage customers in experiential workshops and coordinate with Client Engineering and Customer Success to shape sessions that produce transformation-oriented prototypes and long-term investment. Maintain deep industry expertise and apply it to solving enterprise-scale technology problems. Education

Required Technical And Professional Expertise Technical Account Manager responsibilities include acting as the trusted technical advisor to IBM clients, collaborating across pre- and post-sales teams to define technology strategy and solution design aligned with client needs. Experience

Technical Expertise:

Deep technical and architectural expertise across technologies including cloud (with container skills), business automation, and infrastructure. Proven Leadership:

Experience coordinating technical sales talent through demand generation, deal progression, deployment, and growing adoption of deployed solutions. Communication and Collaboration:

Strong people, communication, and collaboration skills; experience networking, co-creating, and influencing as the technical expert throughout complex sales cycles. Sales Techniques:

Experience applying Consultative/Challenger sales techniques that lead to solutions. Sales Operations:

Experience planning and forecasting to sales quota targets with brand sellers to exceed expectations. Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

Federal Systems Integrators:

Experience selling with Federal Systems Integrators and understanding their business strategies to win new programs and transform existing ones. IBM Technology Proficiency:

Proficiency in a wide range of IBM technologies, including Cloud, Data & AI, with training available. Seniority level
