EXP is currently searching for a

Fire Protection Engineer

to support projects for our Chicago Headquarters. This professional engineer will utilize our flexible hybrid model that includes engineering, design, and specification of fire protection systems for our governmental, education, commercial, and entertainment market sectors. What a day at EXP has in store for you

Revit and CAD proficient with fire protection drawings Develop sections, riser diagrams and elevations of complex equipment and piping areas Develop equipment room sizes during SD and DD phases Determine content of drawings and specs to meet the scope of work Edit specifications to reflect project requirements Select and schedule equipment with limited oversight Meet with vendors to determine specification requirements for application Critically evaluate contractor pricing and cost estimates Maintain the Engineering Book for the project Respond to RFIs and review submittals Manage design process across multiple projects within available hours Collaborate with team, project manager and clients to meet milestones Solve installation problems with fire protection systems; travel to sites as needed Perform site surveys independently Conduct code research to comply with local codes and engage with code officials Strong knowledge of NFPA codes, IBC, ASHRAE, ASME, OSHA and their year-to-year variations Write new specification sections and develop details as required Apply risk management to minimize project exposure Develop scope of work narratives (SD narrative, basis of design, etc.) Write studies and reports for fire protection systems Design fire pump sizing and layout; coordinate with pump rooms Flow testing and hydrant/hose connection assessment Understand gas suppression, deluge, pre-action systems, and high-rise design Basic knowledge of Factory Mutual standards Analyze fire hazards and mitigate risks through proper design Construction coordination Familiar with building structures and materials Experience with fire modeling and simulation software Strong management and organization skills Experience in existing fire protection system assessments and risk assessments Experience with wet-pipe systems per NFPA 13, NFPA 14 Your experience

4+ years of building fire protection design experience across commercial, governmental, educational and entertainment sectors Engineering Degree (BS Architectural Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Fire Protection Engineering, or equivalent) Registered Fire Protection Engineer (or eligible for immediate registration) REVIT MEP and AutoCAD proficiency Ability to travel to client meetings and project sites Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this role is $125,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation packages are based on factors including skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and work location.
