General Manager – Heavy Civil / Road Construction
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced
General Manager
to take full
P&L responsibility
for a leading road construction and materials business unit. This individual will oversee estimating, operations, and financial performance across a wide range of activities, including paving, milling, and specialty construction services.
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, ensure operational excellence, and foster collaboration across estimating teams, project managers, and field superintendents. This is a high-visibility role with the opportunity to make a significant impact on both day-to-day performance and long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all operational, financial, and estimating functions to ensure profitable outcomes across projects.
Oversee construction cost analysis, bidding, and project execution to deliver high-quality, competitive results.
Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulations.
Provide leadership and mentorship to estimating teams, project managers, and superintendents.
Maintain a consistent forward-looking project schedule to ensure resources are allocated effectively.
Engage regularly with clients, conduct site visits, and foster strong customer relationships.
Collaborate with other business leaders to align divisional performance with overall organizational goals.
Represent the company in industry committees and maintain awareness of emerging construction practices.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in
commercial construction, materials supply, or road construction , or a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
Proven experience with
P&L responsibility
in a construction or heavy civil environment.
Strong knowledge of construction standards, estimating, and project management best practices.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop diverse teams.
Exceptional communication, decision-making, and organizational abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly within the region.
