Enterprise Governance Architect – Business and Data Architecture
Location: Ability to work fully onsite at posted location(s). OR, CA, WA, ID, NV, UT, CO. Travel: Discretionary as needed to fulfill the essential functions.

About the Role: The Enterprise Architect leads development, integration, and governance of business and data architectures that enable enterprise-wide alignment of capabilities, processes, data assets, and technology platforms. This role requires deep understanding of business needs and strategy, and collaboration with other architects to design and review information systems aligned with the bank’s goals and technology roadmap.
Responsibilities:
- Advisory and Collaboration: Act as an advisor to technology groups and the bank on new technologies or business needs; collaborate with all levels of the bank, including executive management, to map capabilities, value streams, and processes to technology solutions.
- EA Patterns and Frameworks: Create enterprise architecture patterns and antipatterns; develop and maintain standards, models, and governance for data architecture; ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks; develop reference architectures for master data management, data warehousing, and analytics platforms.
- Strategy and Roadmap Ownership: Own the development and alignment of technology strategy and roadmap within a defined domain; design roadmaps for data integration, data quality, and data governance to support analytics, AI, and operational needs.
- Research and Development: Stay engaged with industry trends; produce enterprise technology radar reports classifying solutions as Hold, Assess, Trial, or Adopt; evaluate trends in business architecture, information management, and data platforms to recommend improvements.
- Requirements Definition: Translate user and process requirements into enterprise architecture designs; ensure outcomes align with Enterprise Architecture Principles.
- Product, Solution Delivery & Integration: Collaborate with application, solution, and technology architects to ensure alignment; influence TAG Teams and other business units to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient solutions within scope, schedule, and budget; assess interactions between systems and services and impacts of changes.
- Industry and Brand Stewardship: Participate in industry events, publish white papers, host webinars to advance the company’s technology brand.
- Mentorship: Provide leadership and mentorship in technology practices across teams.
- Additional, corporate-wide functions: Ensure regulatory compliance; follow bank policies and complete required training; maintain knowledge of BSA, Regulation CC/E, Bank Security, and related regulations; coach and train others; promote Columbia culture; anticipate risks and communicate mitigations; advocate for the vision of becoming “Business Bank of Choice”; perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (About You):
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience (required).
- Master’s degree in related field (preferred).
- Architect certifications in Azure, AWS, or GCP (preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in analysis, design, development, or application deployment (required).
- 4+ years as an EA, AI, or Cloud architect (required).
- Competent in reviewing system and application designs for strategic alignment.
- Strong organizational skills to identify and resolve architectural issues.
- In-depth knowledge of key technological areas and their impact on the computing environment.
- Hands-on cloud experience (Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.).
- Proficiency with Enterprise Architecture Frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, BIAN) and Cloud Well-Architected Frameworks.
- Proficient in contingency and disaster recovery procedures.
- Collaborative leader able to build partnerships with technical and non-technical leaders.
- Ability to lead and grow the next generation of architects; foresee risks and plan mitigations.
- Excellent oral and written communication to articulate business value of technology.
Benefits and Diversity:
- Competitive total rewards package with base wages and comprehensive benefits; pay range for this role is $116,647.72 - $175,000.00; pay depends on knowledge, skills, experience, education, and location; potential for incentive compensation.
