Overview
Director / Vice President, Animal Welfare Policy Location : Washington, DC Type : Full-time Americans for the Common Good (ACG) fixes wasteful federal policy that hurts farmed animals and taxpayers. We work primarily with Republican offices and fiscal conservatives to deliver practical reforms that actually pass and meaningfully improve farmed animal welfare. What youll do
Find and seize opportunities across appropriations, tax packages, and must pass bills. Draft surgical language (riders, report language, tax text) with credible paths to enactment. Own relationships with ~1015 key GOP offices and relevant committee staff. Build lean coalitions (fiscal conservatives, accountability, pro-innovation) when they accelerate passage. Ship, measure, iterate: test ideas with staff, refine from feedback, track progress to enactment. Advance pragmatic animal welfare improvements when policy windows appear. What success looks like
90 days : Two viable vehicles in motion (e.g., targeted rider + tax extender); active dialogues with 810 GOP offices. 6 months : One tangible win (report language included, rider carried, or tax text placed) and a second teed up. Youll thrive here if you
Read an approps bill and immediately spot openings others miss. Care about enacting policy that saves taxpayer money and reduces animal cruelty. Self-direct, move fast, and keep operations light. Must-have qualifications
