The Vice President of Engineering at AbsenceSoft is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, execution, and continuous improvement of all software engineering functions. This leader will drive the development and delivery of scalable, reliable, and high-quality software solutions aligned with the company's product and business objectives. The VP of Engineering will work cross-functionally with product management, quality assurance, and IT teams, and will be a key member of the leadership team, championing engineering excellence, innovation, and a collaborative, high-performance culture. What You’ll Do
Lead and manage the engineering organization, including direct leadership of Sr. Directors and Directors. Set and execute the long-term technology roadmap in alignment with product and business strategies. Establish and maintain software development methodologies, best practices, and performance metrics. Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and technical excellence. Collaborate closely with Product and Design to ensure timely and high-quality software delivery. Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions. Manage engineering budgets, resource planning, and capacity modeling. Implement robust processes for code quality, testing, release management, and incident response. Foster talent development through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning. Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the engineering organization. Ensure compliance with internal controls, security standards, and regulatory requirements. Serve as a key technical advisor to executive leadership and contribute to company-wide strategic planning. Participate in a highly compliant environment while assisting to maintain company controls and security within your job role. Other duties as assigned. What’ll Set You Up for Success
Required Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. 15+ years of progressive experience in software engineering. 5+ years in executive leadership roles within engineering. Proven experience leading
geographically distributed engineering teams . Experience working in
SaaS
or
enterprise software
environments. Preferred Skills: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. Prior experience in the
HR technology
or
leave management software
industry. Track record of

We’re located in beautiful Golden, Colorado. This is a full-time, salaried position + bonus. AbsenceSoft provides a wide variety of perks and benefits.
