Overview

We are seeking a versatile protein engineer to join our Protein Engineering Group in Cambridge, MA in a lab-facing role. The ideal candidate is a scientific innovator with experience in antibody therapeutic engineering and optimization with a deep understanding of protein structure. The successful candidate will contribute to the strategy of biotherapeutic design and utilize hands-on experience to drive the implementation of these designs in multidisciplinary project teams. This protein engineer will contribute to the production and characterization of multispecific therapeutics through collaborations with the broader Discovery Biotherapeutic community at BMS. This is an ideal position for a protein engineer who is enthusiastic about developing creative solutions to design and optimize a wide range of protein therapeutic modalities for the treatment of diverse diseases.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the production and characterization of multispecific protein therapeutics.

Collaborate with the Discovery Biotherapeutic community to implement design strategies in multidisciplinary projects.

Develop creative solutions to design and optimize diverse protein therapeutic modalities.

Apply hands-on experience in protein engineering in a lab-facing role.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of academic / industry experience

Or Master’s Degree with 3+ years of academic / industry experience

Or PhD in Biology with 0-2 years of academic / industry experience

Desired Skills And Experiences

PhD in structural biology, biochemistry, or a closely related field

Deep understanding of protein structure-function relationships

Experience engineering antibody-based therapeutics to improve activity, yield, immunogenicity, and developability

Experience with high-throughput cloning, production, and characterization (SDS-PAGE, SEC-MALS, MS, BLI/SPR, mass photometry)

Familiar with computational predictions and structural analysis in drug discovery (e.g. Schrodinger, MOE, Rosetta)

Hands-on experience in protein expression and purification

Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and well-organized

Excellent written and verbal presentation skills with external publications/presentations

Compensation and Benefits The starting compensation for this job is a range from $128,420 - $155,600, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
