HPI owns and operates hospital campuses and supports partner clinics with management services. The CEO of the hospitals reports directly to the CEO of HPI. Position Summary

In collaboration with the governing board, CEO of the hospitals, and HPI executive leadership team, the CEO of HPI is responsible for directing, coordinating, and controlling all aspects of the operating functions, processes, and staff of the MSO and surgical hospitals while demonstrating the primary goal of efficiently providing surgical services that exceed customer expectations and improve clinical and financial operations. The CEO of the three hospitals and the HPI executive leadership team report directly to the CEO of HPI. Functional Expectations & Requirements

Executive oversight for the strategic direction of the hospital facilities and MSO. Serve as a liaison between the Governing Board, the Medical Staff, and all departments of the MSO and facilities. Report pertinent MSO and facility activities to the Governing Board at regular intervals. Appoint a person responsible for the MSO and facilities in the absence of the CEO. Plan services provided by the MSO and the facilities and operate the MSO and facilities. Overall management of the Partnership as outlined in the Operating or Limited Partnership Agreement. Lead discussion/presentation during Monthly Operations Review calls with USPIs Home Office Business Operations team. Deploy, monitor, and ensure that USPIs EDGETM is integrated within the facilitys operational processes and QPI program. Ensure compliance with USPIs policies and internal controls. Develop, monitor, and control staffing, operations budget, and capital budget. Develop, monitor, and control the purchasing plan, ensuring budget alignment and group purchasing compliance. Ensure compliance with government regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies. Negotiate and manage external contracts (physicians, ancillary services, plant maintenance, purchasing agreements). Establish pricing for procedures based on cost analysis and local market standards. Foster positive work relationships among all departments and act as liaison between Home Office and facility staff. Develop and ensure compliance with departmental policy and procedure manuals for staff. Monitor variations in financial performance to avoid cash flow problems. Personnel Administration

Hold monthly staff meetings outlining facility goals and priorities. Manage exempt and non-exempt employees per facility policies with fair practices. Review employee performance as scheduled or annually. Review and approve disciplinary actions and/or discharge of employees. Evaluate management performance and other staff as designated. Approve additions or deletions of positions and approve new hires for vacant positions. Develop productivity analyses and ensure staffing efficiency aligned with surgical case volume. Implement orientation, training, and ongoing evaluation for all employees. Manage all employee files and records. Provide educational opportunities for professional staff development. Promote positive customer relations by employees and physicians. Clinical Services

Ensure surgical programs and clinical services comply with regulatory and accrediting standards. Work with Medical Director and Medical Executive Committee on evaluation and development of services. Manage nursing, central supply, medical records, housekeeping; supervise contracted services (laboratory, radiology, pharmaceuticals, laundry, biomedical engineering). Monitor function of surgical equipment and patient care equipment via contracted services and follow-up on repairs. Marketing and Planning

Develop and implement a sales/marketing plan and lead the facility's sales team per USPIs Sales Plan. Identify and develop new services appropriate for surgical hospitals. Foster positive public relations. Quality Improvement

Develop, evaluate, and promote continuous quality improvement programs. Administer infection control and medical staff review of quality improvement. Identify and correct quality care issues. Develop statistical indicators to evaluate operations and quality of care. Serve as a member of the Quality Improvement Committee. Medical Staff Relationships

Process credentialing of practitioners. Collaborate with Medical Director on biannual review of Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations. Serve as liaison with medical staff to address problem areas and promote positive relationships. Develop a system to define physicians’ and patients’ needs to determine service mix and efficiencies. Physical Facilities

Ensure facilities are clean, neat, professional, well maintained, and convey confidence to patients and physician customers. Identify and approve plant improvements and repairs; promote a safe, aesthetically appealing physical plant. Maintain records and report incidents related to emergency generator, utilities, security, environment, and drills. Administrative Representation

Attend corporate administrative meetings representing the facilities. Act in line with the facilities’ and USPI’s vision, mission, and business philosophy. Maintain membership in relevant professional associations. Stay current with changes in healthcare environment (reimbursement, legislation, business law) and act in the best interest of the corporation. Personal Development and Professionalism

Identify areas for reinforcement through education or practicum. Attend mandatory in-services and meetings. Follow USPI conduct and dress code policy. Maintain privacy and confidentiality; communicate effectively and courteously with stakeholders. Required Skills

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; a master’s degree is strongly preferred. Hospital (emphasis on Surgical Division) or Surgical Hospital experience. 10–15 years of progressive healthcare management experience, including leadership of a complex entity in a diverse urban environment. Strong English communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to work well with physicians, employees, patients, and others. Governing Board may determine other qualifications as seen fit. USPI complies with federal, state, and local vaccination laws.
