Ledgent Finance & Accounting is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist for a 6-month temporary assignment with our cutting-edge manufacturing client. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now (WFN) and a solid understanding of multi-state payroll processing. This role will also support payroll-related general ledger activities, assist with month-end and year-end close, and help reconcile payroll accounts. Responsibilities
Process accurate and timely multi-state payroll using ADP Workforce Now (WFN). Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations. Collaborate with Finance and HR to collect and verify payroll data including timecards, new hires, terminations, and employee changes. Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports. Assist with general ledger activities related to payroll taxes, payroll expenses, and employee benefits. Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate reporting of payroll-related expenses. Prepare and post journal entries for payroll and related accounts. Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner. Provide documentation and support for audits and internal reporting requests. Qualifications
5+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-state environment. Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred. Strong working knowledge of ADP Workforce Now (WFN) is required. Familiarity with general accounting principles related to payroll. Experience with payroll account reconciliations and month-end close processes. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive/confidential information. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a mid-size to large organization. Knowledge of benefits administration as it relates to payroll. Familiarity with payroll-related audits and compliance reporting. Note: This is a temporary position with an expected duration of 6 months, with the possibility of extension depending on business needs.
