Overview

Berliner Cohen’s San Jose Employment Department is seeking an Associate Attorney with 3+ years of labor law and employment litigation experience. The ideal applicant desires to be a zealous advocate, has counseled clients and litigated wage and hour cases, class action cases, and employment discrimination and wrongful termination matters in California. Familiarity with administrative charges, wage laws, leave and compliance matters (FMLA, ADA, wage and hour), policy development, compliance training, and managing pre-litigation disputes is preferred. Responsibilities

Provide diligent advocacy for clients in labor and employment matters, including wage/hour, class actions, discrimination, and wrongful termination cases in California. Counsel clients, manage pre-litigation matters, and develop/compliance policies and training as needed. Familiarity with administrative charges and wage-and-hour compliance; assist with leave policies and related statutory requirements. Travel to client sites, work in multiple counties, and travel between firm offices as required. Qualifications

Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school; strong academic background. Active member in good standing of the State Bar of California. Minimum 3 years of employment/labor law and litigation experience; strong written and oral communication, analytical, and advocacy skills. Experience with wage and hour issues, class actions, discrimination and wrongful termination matters in California. Compensation and Location

Salary: starting at $160,000; actual compensation is based on qualifications and experience. Location options: San Jose or Modesto office; occasional travel required. Application notes
