Department History Overview:
Harris County Resources for Children and Adults was founded in 1966 as Harris County Child Welfare Board to provide support services for the children taken under the wing of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Fifty years later, Harris County Resources for Children and Adults still provides this support. But the now-county department has expanded services for early prevention, intervention, and adult services.

Brief Description Overview:
Under the supervision of the Pre-Transition Service Supervisor, this position provides administrative support to all program staff of the Houston Alumni and Youth Center (HAY).
Duties & Responsibilities:
Greets and directs clients (current and former foster youth), caregivers, board members, volunteers, and other visitors to The HAY Center in a respectful manner.
Controls the ingress and egress from the building in conjunction with security personnel.
Answers main phone line and answers general questions about HAY Center programming.
Directs calls to appropriate staff members which will require accessing the EVOLV case management database to determine the assigned case manager, etc.
Registers current foster youth via telephone and email for PAL Life Skills Training classes and documents all contacts/contact attempts in the EVOLV case management database.
Maintains an electronic Life Skills Training registration database that is provided to the in-care team.
Works closely with the aftercare team to ensure youth case files are closed properly.
Monitors supply closets and orders office supplies.
Participates in and assists with preparation for HAY Center events and Preparation for Adult Living (PAL) statewide and regional activities.

Education:
A high school diploma or its equivalent.
Experience:
Minimum two (2) years’ full-time work experience as an administrative assistant.
Training and experience using a personal computer with a variety of software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel.
Licensure:
Reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license (Texas) and auto liability insurance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Bilingual in English and Spanish required.

Salary:
$41,600.00--$49,753.60 (Annually)
Based on 26 Pay Periods
Plus, Mileage Reimbursement
