Overview
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of tasks in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practises safe behaviors.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment. Keeps egress clear to emergency exits and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times. Recognizes fellow Associates using company recognition programs.
- Assists Customers; is register-trained, helps with merchandise, and answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Greets Customers with eye contact, smiling, and a courteous "hello" throughout the Store and says "thank you" at checkout.
- Provides prompt responses to Customer inquiries. Answers Customer Service calls promptly and defers to Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks and replenishes supplies to maintain cleanliness of the store, including floors, counters, restrooms, and high-touch areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
- Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to standards.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor per company guidelines and assists Customers with merchandise familiarity within departments.
- Understands Loss Prevention policies and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguards confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
- Follows MOS policies and proper processing and disposal notification procedures.
- Handles cash, checks, charge transactions, refunds, and offline procedures with accuracy and awareness.
- Demonstrates urgency to perform duties efficiently and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/Ada
- Ability to use store equipment, including POS systems and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment and maintain store fixtures.
- Some assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
- For stockroom roles: ability to push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is $15.00 - $15.50 per hour, depending on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location. Benefits offered to all Associates include a range of insurance programs, associate discounts, retirement plans, paid time off, and other programs as described by the company.
