General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be assigned additional tasks to achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions.
  • Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greets Customers and recognizes fellow Associates using company programs.
  • Assists Customers with merchandise, answers questions, and processes transactions politely and knowledgeably.
  • Responds promptly to Customer service calls and escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks and maintains restrooms and high-touch areas.
  • Maintains professional appearance and adheres to dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, organized store aligned with standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the floor and maintains brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
  • Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrates integrity and safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follows MOS policies and cash handling procedures with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Demonstrates urgency and maximizes productivity by following store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach and stoop; occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
  • Associates who work Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.

Compensation And Benefits

The base pay range for this role is $17.95 - $18.45, dependent on experience, skills, qualifications, location, and other factors. Benefits include various insurance programs, Associate discounts, 401K and other programs. Some roles may be eligible for bonuses based on performance.
