General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of tasks in all store areas as needed to support customer service and store operations.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; ensures egress is clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greets Customers and thanks them at appropriate points.
- Assists Customers as needed, is register-trained, helps with merchandise, and answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner.
- Responds promptly to Customer Service calls and handles issues in a courteous and helpful way, escalating to Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks and maintains cleanliness of work areas, restrooms, and high-touch areas to support merchandise and customer areas.
- Maintains professional appearance and adheres to the Company dress code.
- Performs daily merchandising tasks to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well-maintained and efficiently merchandised.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor according to guidelines and supports merchandising standards.
- Understands Loss Prevention practices and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguards confidential information and company assets.
- Follows MOS policies and cash handling procedures with accuracy.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and follow Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/ADA
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; ability to push/pull and lift up to 25 pounds; ability to work with janitorial equipment and shelving.
- Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
- For Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
