Overview

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; friendly and professional at all times.
  • Assists Customers as needed — is register-trained, helps with merchandise, and answers questions politely and knowledgeably; greets Customers throughout the Store and thanks them at checkout.
  • Provides prompt, courteous responses to Customer service requests and escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks and replenishes supplies to maintain a neat, clean, and merchandised store.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
  • Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to ensure a neat and organized store per standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and presents items according to monthly guidelines.
  • Understands the Loss Prevention program and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follows MOS (Minimum On-Shelf) policies and proper processing of disposals with Store Leadership approval.
  • Follows policies concerning cash, check, charge card, refunds, and offline procedures; maintains accuracy with tender handling.
  • Demonstrates urgency to efficiently perform duties while maximizing productivity and minimizing unnecessary steps.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/ADA

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; push/pull and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
  • Stockroom associates: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
