General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards as outlined in all work centers, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to handle a range of tasks in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be requested to perform additional tasks to help achieve Customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Safety is the number one priority; maintain awareness on the sales floor and keep egress clear. Report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Maintain a safe and secure shopping environment; keep pathways clear and report hazards.
- Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional at all times.
- Assist Customers as needed—register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet customers with eye contact, a smile, and a greeting; say thank you at checkout.
- Provide prompt, efficient responses to Customers; respond to Customer Service calls; involve Store Leadership when needed.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces, replenishing restroom supplies) to maintain store areas.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the Company dress code.
- Daily sizing and recovery tasks to keep the store neat, clean, and efficiently merchandised.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per guidelines to support monthly presentation standards.
- Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Follow MOS policies for merchandise identification, processing, and disposals after review by Store Leadership.
- Follow policies for cash transactions, refunds, and bankable tender handling; maintain accuracy.
- Demonstrate urgency to perform duties efficiently and maximize productivity.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/ADA
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
- Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
