Overview
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practices, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Safety is the number one priority; maintains awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure environment. Keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; remains friendly and professional. Recognizes fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
- Assists Customers as needed—is register-trained, assists with merchandise, and answers questions politely and knowledgeably. Greets Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a courteous greeting; thanks customers at checkout.
- Provides prompt responses to Customer inquiries; responds to Customer Service calls and escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping surfaces) and replenishes restroom supplies; disinfects high-touch areas to maintain store standards.
- Maintains professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
- Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and well-merchandised store.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandises items per monthly guidelines, and maintains brand-name familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
- Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards; follows MOS policies and proper processing of disposals.
- Handles cash, checks, charge card transactions, refunds, voids, and offline procedures with accuracy and integrity.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/Ada
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Associates who work Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
