General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greets Customers with eye contact, smiles, and a friendly attitude; uses company recognition programs.
  • Assists Customers by being register-trained, helping with merchandise, answering questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; says "hello" and "thank you" throughout the store and at the register.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customer inquiries; responds to service calls immediately and escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks and maintains cleanliness of work areas and high-touch surfaces to support merchandise, customers, and Team.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat and organized store that is well-maintained and efficiently merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor; items merchandised according to monthly presentation guidelines and brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
  • Understands Loss Prevention and merchandise protection standards; follows MOS policies and notifies Store Leadership for disposals as needed.
  • Handles cash, checks, credit transactions, refunds, voids, and offline procedures with accuracy; maintains awareness of bankable tenders.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds (20 pounds for Stockroom shifts).
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
