General purpose and expectations: The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of tasks in all areas of the Store as business needs require, and may be assigned additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains awareness on the sales floor to create a safe, clutter-free environment and reports unsafe conditions.
- Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greets customers and uses friendly, professional service at all times.
- Assists Customers as needed; is register-trained, answers questions, and processes transactions accurately while delivering courteous service.
- Provides prompt responses to Customer Service calls and escalates to Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks and maintains restrooms and high-touch areas to support a clean store environment.
- Maintains professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
- Performs daily merchandising and recovery tasks to ensure a neat and organized store per guidelines.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and adheres to presentation guidelines to support customer experience.
- Understands Loss Prevention practices and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguards confidential information and company assets.
- Follows MOS policies and cash handling procedures with accuracy and integrity.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Ability to communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Ability to use store equipment and be on foot for extended periods.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds regularly; may require heavier lifting occasionally for stockroom tasks.
- Ability to work in various store areas and use janitorial equipment as needed.

Compensation And Benefits
The base pay range for this role is $16.66 - $17.16 per hour, dependent on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, and location. Benefits include health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement savings plans, employee discounts, and other programs typical for Ross Stores.
