Overview

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards as outlined in all work centers, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be required to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may perform additional tasks in specific situations to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional at all times; recognize fellow Associates using company recognition programs.
  • Assist Customers by being register-trained, helping with merchandise, answering questions politely and knowledgeably; greet Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a hello; say thank you at every register transaction.
  • Provide prompt and efficient responses to Customers; respond to Service calls immediately; escalate issues to Store Leadership as needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks and replenish supplies to maintain a clean store and well-merchandised areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Execute daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and organized per standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per guidelines, assisting Customers with brand familiarity within departments.
  • Understand Loss Prevention Awareness programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguard confidential information and company assets.
  • Follow all MOS (missed-out-of-stock) policies and handling procedures for disposals as needed.
  • Follow policies concerning cash, checks, credit, refunds, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy with tender handling.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and follow Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PC as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; lift up to 25 pounds regularly; may require lifting more in stockrooms.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment and ladders as needed.
  • Stockroom shifts may require lifting more than 20 pounds.
